PARENT AND COMMUNITY GROUP UPDATE
We now have a fully functioning outdoor classroom, complete with artificial grass, beanbags and picnic tables. You can see how much hard work was involved in the photographs below. Please call in to school during family learning time or just after to look at both the quad and the science garden and find out how you can become involved in future projects.
HALFWAY PARENT AND COMMUNITY GROUP UPATE
Firework Party – Thank you to all our parents and families from Halfway Juniors, Halfway NI and Shortbrook School who joined us for our firework party. We hope you all enjoyed the evening as much as we did. It was fantastic to see so many of you enjoying the fun with your families. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all the staff and parent volunteers from HJS Family & Community Group for their valuable help and contribution before the event and on the day. The evening was a huge success and could not have happened without their efforts. Thank you to all.

WORLD'S BIGGEST COFFE MORNING - MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT
Our Macmillan Coffee Morning was a resounding success and raised a tremendous £185! We were overwhelmed by the generosity of our parents and families who came along to support such a worthy cause. There was an impressive array of cakes and buns on offer, all donated by our Halfway community. Our children got to visit the event throughout the day and they were joined by many of our parents and families. We would like to extend a huge thank you to everybody who was involved for making this one of our most rewarding fundraising occasions!

MAKE IT BETTER DAY - SHEFFIELD CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
One of our Y3 pupils, Lillie and her mum asked us to to hold a bake sale in support of this local charity. Thanks to the donations
from our families, they raised £119 for this very worthy cause. If you'd like to find out more about how the money will be used please click here.
This ladies only evening was a great success! The feedback from everyone who attended was extremely positive and we have been asked to run this event again later in the year. Ticket sales, refreshments and the raffle raised over £100 on the night. Thank you to all those who came and we look forward to seeing you again next time round!
Valentines Day saw the whole school "Go Green for Tourettes" in support of a pupil, from our Family of Schools, with this condition. Our children and staff all wore green, paid £1 and raised an incredible £103. This will be donated to family of the Westfield pupil, who's Dad is running the London Marathon. Follow this link www.justgiving.com/Martin-Cummins1 for more information.
Children also bought wristbands to support the charity Tourettes Action. The collection box certainly feels heavy and we are looking forward to seeing how much this has raised!
The Christmas Market proved to be another amazing success for Halfway Junior School. This event was the culmination of the Autumn term topic work. Each class had a small budget and had to use their entrepreneurial skills to make as much profit as possible. Children worked hard all term to make, market and sell their own products at the Christmas Market. There were handmade chocolates and sweets in handcrafted presentation boxes, tasty homemade bread, chocolate truffles, cookies and biscuits galore! All our families enjoyed the festive atmosphere and savored the hand made goodies!
HALLOWEEN SPOOKY SPONSORED WALK
The Halloween Spooky Sponsored Walk was a Superb Success and raised just over £1000! Our children really entered in to the 'spirt' of things and dressed in their scariest Halloween costumes! The sunshine made a welcome appearance after a very heavy rain fall during the morning and the muddy puddles didnt dampen the enthusiasm of any of our walkers.
