We believe that the education we provide at Halfway Junior school is crucial in ensuring that all our pupils are ready for their next steps in education, as well as ready to be positive members of their communities.
Our children undertake two main transitions whilst they are with us: Y2 – Y3 and Y6 – Y7. To make these transitions a success we work closely with our local schools to ensure our children are fully supported during their move.
Our aim is for all Year 2 children to feel confident, secure and excited about the move to our Junior School.
We hold a Y2 Open Evening early in the Autumn term for prospective parents. During this evening we share our vision and aims, answer any questions and show families around our school.
Most of our Y3 children come to us from Halfway Nursery Infant School. Therefore, we work closely to ensure a seamless transition.
Children coming to us from other settings are equally supported in their transition, with staff liaising closely to make sure that every child feels settled, happy and ready to learn.
The majority of our children chose to continue their education at Westfield Secondary School and we are proud to be part of the Westfield Family of Schools. Some of our students chose to move onto
Eckington Secondary School or even further afield. Wherever they chose to move to we make sure that we work in partnership with these schools.
All secondary schools in our area hold regular open evenings for parents and have a full transition package which we fully support.
